To describe furniture as being "Cane furniture" is actually quite misleading. People believe that the frames for cane furniture are made from bamboo. Bamboo canes are hollow, rigid and prone to splitting in extreme temperatures. This makes it unsuitable for most types of furniture construction.

Cane furniture is actually constructed from Rattan. The thicker poles can be steamed and formed to produce a rigid frame. The finer core of the Rattan vine has a great degree of flexibility and is therefore perfect for weaving into the intricate patterns that complete your "Cane " furniture.

Rattan

Unlike many soft and hard woods Rattan is ideal for Conservatory furniture construction. Its' unique properties mean that it remains stable in the challenging temperature fluctuations experienced in many glass panelled rooms.
